" The scene in "Afterhours" where Griffin Dunne stumbles into a punk club where free admission is given to those with a mohawk haircut; he doesn't have the cover charge, and he is held down and receives a partial mohawk before he escapes. The director, Martin Scorcese, has a cameo shining a spotlight on the club patrons from a catwalk.

Thu, October 1, 2009 - 8:11 PMWell it may not be John Hughes but Phoebe Cates coming out of the pool is the best scene ever in a movie, so loop that one over and over and forget Molly Ringwald arriving alone at the prom...not sure whether to go in or not....decides to go in and then...looking up she sees Ducky all decked out in his "tuxedo". And then they smiled at each other.
And forget when Keith and the blond chauffer/drummer kiss at the end of "Some Kind of Wonderful". Just loop that Phoebe Cates scene. -

That would be two different things. So go ahead and pick scenes from ANY 80's movie.
It was pretty funny when I showed the Fast Times scene and played Moving in Stereo from The Cars at Soundtrack Night at Mezzanine a couple years ago. When Phoebe came out of the pool, everyone stopped dancing and just stared at the screen. -

Okay, then. One favorite from "Repo Man": The plate o' shrimp scene, when Otto and Miller are burning stuff and talking about coincidences.
From "Gremlins": When Billy first opens the gift from his parents. Gizmo!
From "Back to the Future": When Marty is driving the Delorean and accidentally time-travels from the parking lot to a cornfield.

Mon, October 5, 2009 - 10:03 AMAww, didn't see this before the weekend. But in PIP I love the scene where Andie and Iona slow dancing to 'Cherish' while she's wearing her beehive and fluffy slippers. Maybe you can use that next year. -
