Okay I heard FYC - Suppicious Minds (The Long Version) as I entered so that just about made my evening. In fact that totally made up for the fact I didn't hear Kirsty McColl's "There's A Guy Down A The Chip Shop Thinks He's Elvis" or Tracy Ullman's "Breakaway".

And it also made my friend who wouldn't come because it was the 4th and he thought having an all British night was just "uncool" furious because he LOVES that song more than his own ray bans.

And isn't U2 Irish not British.

And yeah where is the Smith's set list that is not posted!

    Peace, Love, Happiness, New Wave

Not to complain more of an inquire. How come no one ever plays the song from Cube – Love’s Taboo? Thinking of old tunes that need to be resurrection DJ Brian spinning that night got me thinking and they’re about 300 songs well about 20 old regulars that come to mind that I used to hear at new wave clubs in the 80s all the time that I don’t here at all now a days. Something has to be done!!!

I did a Google search for “Love’s Taboo” and “New Wave City”, and the results were interesting:

      www.google.com/search

I guess this saves me the trouble of pointing out where that song HAS been played recently.

Voice Farm first Appeared in The Quake Rock of 84' album with their song Reconstruction. Most of their stuff is kind of crap but arounf 87-88 they had this cool dancy tooon Super EQ Team that people refuse to play yet it may be their best material.

                Yeah I'm that kool!

Voice Farm was from the 80's (and from SF). Their sound is a little dated now (as opposed to the other stuff that has withstood the test of time). Just my opinion I suppose. I would play them more often if people would dance to their music more often.

Same goes for Westworld - Painkiller. If they would just dance to it, I would play it more. Great song. Yes, that was one of Master's pet songs.

Same goes for Cube - Love's Taboo. Another Master's Mix classic. Secession - The Magician falls in the same category.

I still re-try these tunes from time to time, I just hate playing to an empty room. That's my only excuse.

Thanks for the input Dan. It's just in the Club context I always think of my old friends from back then we would always go out and hear those tunes mentioned nightly. But my friends whom I have recently reunited with from 20+ years ago don't go out anymore. I always think about them whenever I step into the doors of the Cat Club or the DNA. Since 2 years ago I haven't gone out on a regular basis since 1991. That's a 16 year hiatus. Being a child of Stargaze, Primary, Lips, Thursdays @ the Palladium, 15 Minutes on Wed and Das Klub who still goes out, for me going out is sort of surreal in a time travel sort of way. It’s like I see ghosts, good ghosts mind you from the past. I feel that way mostly because those days back then were absolutely the shit, they were the best times ever. Going out and meeting new people in a similar modern context sort of stirs up that very good feeling. The funny thing is that I remember all the songs and all the people.

Speaking of Voice Farm if you remember it seemed like they were the default house band at The Berkeley Square back then. Oh shit The Berkeley Square and JV liquors across the street I don’t want to get started on that. Dan my only request is that you still try to re-circulate those songs I know there was energy in those songs back then it filled the dance floor back then I believe the energy is still in those songs you just pick your time to strike!

We’re (Primary) having a reunion this fall though my old peeps don’t get out often this is what they want to here at the reunion. www.facebook.com/home.php

Keep up the good work Dan.
                    Cheers, J

Your stream-of-consiousness writing is great! Dan - I think Temptation would be the perfect place to whip out all of Quake's (very good) requests! Can I add to that 7 Red 7 "Thinking of You", Desireless "Voyage Voyage" and Kon Kan "I beg Your Pardon"!!!!

I used to go to Lips, Das Klub,15 minutes, and the X I had some great times and met some great people there. It is different now and I don't go out as much but I sure love hearing songs from back then. I will never forget being at Lips upstairs at the bar and having this guy with his monitor lizard there and the lizard kept sniffing my ankle. ha ha.

I love hearing those songs intersperced with the better known ones.

I have that Steve Masters: A Trip Back to the '80s CD. I love and would dance to "The Magician" and "Love's Taboo." I like "Painkiller" as well and would dance if you played it, just on principle. ;)

Speaking of Berkeley Square, I have a Quake recording that has a commercial for that club - even mentions Brian Raffi as the DJ! Must have been from 1984 or 'early '85.

I'm "crating" up these requests for Temptation next Saturday (7/25). Looking forward to playing some of those "forgotten" classics, as well as some stuff that you might otherwise be embarrassed to say you actually like.

Valley reunion also known as Primary, Lips, Stargaze, Twilight Zone mini reunion I got 6 peeps most from HS tentatively going, because damn!!! Getting these retired aging new wavers to go back out to the yard so to say is like pulling teeth. I might even end my toteetling fast from drinking booze and get liquored up. From the Tri Valley where it’s 103F and about 71F at 1:45am…with hearts... out.

    Late,

Ha! I just found a Voice Farm song I still like! Just ripped it from my record. I'll play it Thursday at 84 (be warned). Just listened to the Hey Freethinker 12" versions... and they are ... really bad. The LP version might be worth a spin. From the LP that I have, the Reconstruction update is not bad. A couple other notable tracks worth going into my digital library are My Idea, Seeing Is Believing and of course Super EQ Team. Oh, the one I definitely want to play Thursday is Johnny Belinda.

I also just added George Krantz to my video library. Maybe I'll throw that on too. Or I can save it for Saturday...

If you can add Time Zone - World Distruction to the starting rotation you would be my super hero.

Thursday I'll be watching The Magic Wands and Hockey...

If your behind the wheel (dj'n) Saturday night then hell it'z on!!!

              C U soon
