Re: B-52's @ Independent May 9
Tue, March 11, 2008 - 10:30 PMHmm, interesting venue. It's small, which I guess is good but I can't recall much about the sound. Has anyone seen a show here?
In any case, it's time to start teasing up the wigs. -

Wed, March 12, 2008 - 1:14 PMHey, better view up there. The last time I was down below some tall red-headed chick with an "I heart Duran Duran " t-shirt was blocking my view.
I think she was drunk too. -

Clever how the price was $52.50 per ticket. Coincidence, I'm sure. -

Sun, March 16, 2008 - 2:46 PMThat's why I don't go to many concerts. High prices, instant sellouts, and "young" people like Cary making fun of us old people. -

Mon, March 17, 2008 - 9:15 AMYou and Sandra should start a roadie union. -

Re: B-52's @ Independent May 9
Mon, March 17, 2008 - 9:18 AMThe union voted to strike for better wages and benefits. We'll be picketing outside the next Strangelove event. I expect there to be some violence and choice words for management..

Re: B-52's @ Independent May 9
Tue, May 13, 2008 - 10:32 PMI got two tickets thanks to Cary. It was great! I had a lot of fun, the crowd was good and the B-52's were great. Sounded really good and it was neat to see them in such a small place. I don't usually dance that much unless I've been drinking but I danced all through the show and didn't have anything to drink at all. -

Re: B-52's @ Independent May 9
Wed, May 14, 2008 - 10:52 PMI also had a fantastic time at the show thanks to Cary. It was great being that near to Keith, Cindy, Fred, and Kate. I thought their set was awesome although they could have sang a bit longer for the price of admission. I was telling Amanda and Cary how young Keith looked. He didn't look a day over 35 but I know he's gotta be around 50.
Thanks again Cary...and Amanda... for the fun evening. -

Re: B-52's @ Independent May 9
Sun, May 18, 2008 - 7:00 PMHey...I gotta chime in here.
This had to be one of the best B-52's concerts I've seen, but not THE best 'cuz I wasn't on stage. They are still full of energy, sass and still know how to throw a party. They played Strobelight, Planet Claire (my favs), Private Idaho and of course for encore, Rock Lobster. The crowd was really into it, I think the B's were floored by the reception they received. I lost my voice for a few days, myself. It's a wonder Paul survived standing next to me, he was putting his life on the line.
So, you haters who couldn't be bothered....you really lost out on a killer show. ;P -

C'mon... I was yelling as loud as you. Strobelight was great. I liked when Fred substituted the line, "I want to kiss your pineapple" with "I want to kiss your San Francisco treat."
My favorite songs of the set were Planet Claire and Give Me Back My Man but they did a good job on all their new songs too. Overall a great show. Coulda been longer.

Re: B-52's @ Independent May 9
Sun, May 18, 2008 - 8:44 PMI caught them in Dixon. They were a blast. The crowd was a weird mix of Sacto hipsters, families, and damn near rednecks. A bad venue though which was a field with seats set up to hold 5,000 people. There was probably a couple thousand people there in all. I love fair shows. So far the only other good fair show I know of is Joan Jett at the Marin County Fair July 2nd. -

Mon, May 19, 2008 - 5:00 PMI saw Joan last year at the Marin Fair and it was awesome!!!! I will prob go again this time. -
